Got to get worse before it gets better! That’s the short history of the war against Triple-T, the obnoxious divorce handout which Indian Muslim husbands hold over the heads of defenceless Muslim wives. Is it possible that these male hobos will be hoisted with their own combined petard?
It will be a sight. Friday, the Triple-T bill was to come to Rajya Sabha for a final reckoning. But it was taking its time. Seemed like the elder MPs had other things up their kurta-sleeves.
The Triple-T bill, with a watered down cabinet note, still faces opposition, in and out of the house, and it’s a wonder why young Muslim boys and girls have not stood up for mothers and sisters. Boys we can understand; aren’t they Muslim men-on-the-make, future Triple-T stalwarts, holders of Damocles!
But girls? What’s holding them back from standing up to parsimonious bearded men folk? Fathers, brothers, uncles… Nobody’s asking them to poison the family pot. A little moral support is all. It’s their futures at stake, after all.
And the so-called progressive Muslim varsities – Aligarh Muslim and Jamia Islamia? Don’t these institutions of learning have a thought for the powerless married-divorced Muslim women? JNU and Jadavpur only rise to cries of Desh Tere Tukde Tukde Honge, not to the heart-rending Talaq Talaq Talaq. What a triple shame.
Kanhaiya Kumar and Shehla Rashid – Umar Khalid. The ones who march to CPI leader D Raja’s mutilated English! Cannot these budding-for-ages research scholars put taxpayer money to actual good use, lift the spirit instead of encashing it at the altar of breaking the nation into Chotte-Chotte, Chotte-Chotte Tukde?
Triple-T backed by no Sharia law is shameful throwback to Allah only knows when. Don’t even speak of Nikah Halala. Ultimately, everything about man is limited to the britches. And every religion has its quota of traders of disrepute. This whole contract thing about Muslim marriage should be dunked in the ocean and left to the sharks to make an Osama bin Laden of.
Burial at sea should be encouraged to save not just the Marina!
Bheedtantra rules the land. The latent mob which forced the Madras High Court to buckle under pressure is the same that hovers over the bill to discipline Triple-T. For, no matter how hard the attempt, ‘talaq-talaq-talaq’ is not going anywhere.
The Muslim male in India is a pusillanimous coward, an oxymoron if any. Like the mob! Look at the Kanwariya. Sections of ‘K’ form into instant mobs to topple hapless cars. At least the beaten Muslim woman has a pair of hands to rise in protest, to protect. The car has nothing other than brittle windshields and a horn that doesn’t sound a whimper.
The bheedtantra of the ‘K’ is in extraordinary demand. It could win UP to BJP against the grand designs of the alliance. So, the out of the ordinary pictures of a top-cop showering rose petals on the Kanwariya from the hovering chopper.
Time was when the ‘K” were devoted to peace; Shiv bhakts with the waddling gait of the walking marathoner. They used to pass you by on Mathura Road, en route to Hardwar and points Ganges, gobbling up the miles, intent only on the journey, the pilgrimage.
Today, with new money to fuel, they are racing dolts, drunk on numbers; bullying traffic on roads everywhere north, lynching cars and beating cops. The day Modi chose the Yogi, he made sure Hindutva got more than a facelift – statetantra backing to the hilt bheedtantra. Come 2019, results will show. Chanakya would have blushed.
Meanwhile, the Muslim mob waits. And it’s the Congress party’s turn to hug the mob. One at a time! To tell the unalloyed truth, the Congress wouldn’t have budged from its stand – ‘bilkul spasht hai, iss se zyaada mein nahi kahungi’ UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi put it, short and straight. Sonia is flying the Rafale against Triple-T, hoping hard that Modi-Shah will crash.
Thursday, the opposition alliance came unstuck and the NDA nominee for deputy chairperson of the Rajya Sabha got elected. Friday, it was time to recoup, repay. A Triple-T punch – to Modi’s face! What the heck, who cares about what happens to whom, so long as the mob pays back in votes. Got to get worse before it gets better; oh, the whole caboodle is in a mess!
The watered down Triple-T bill makes the nondescript magistrate the lynchpin, with power to grant bail to recalcitrant Triple-T Muslim men; also, with the discretion to bestow on Triple-teed women custody of minor children and subsistence allowance to make both ends meet.
Muslim men in general and clerics in particular aren’t mollified. They have decided to stand their ground on their three feet! Got to get worse for them before it gets better for the women; oh, the whole caboodle right now is in a royal mess. (IPA Service)
