In Rajasthan BJP is facing a bigger problem from their own cadre than from the Congress or opposition parties. The situation is similar to the one prevailing at the time of by-elections when the party workers had opposed chief minister Vasundhra Raje. The new slogan is Modi Se Bare Nahi Per Vasundhra Ki Kher Nahi. BJP workers are praising Narendra Modi but opposing Vasundhra. Rajasthan is used to witnessing strong anti-incumbency for every government, with the result that there is a change of guard every five years, but this time the BJP workers themselves are opposing their government, forcing the central leadership to depend on caste equations to win the election. Even the Satta Bazar is not supporting BJP, especially after Manvinder Singh, son of Jaswant Singh, joined Congress, which indicates that the Thakurs will now support the Congress in the same way as Sainis and Brahmins are seen doing.
SHAH VISIT FAILS TO SOLVE UTTARAKHAND PROBLEMS
The intervention by the central leadership was failed to stop the infighting in Uttarakhand BJP. After the visit by party president Amit Shah, things seemed to be settling down, but the problems reappeared within no time. Umesh Sharma, the owner and CEO of a television channel, was arrested in Ghaziabad on the allegation that he was trying to carry out a sting operation against the chief minister and the state’s additional chief secretary to blackmail them. The same Umesh Sharma was involved in a similar operation at the time of former chief minister Harish Rawat. At that time BJP was supporting this channel and now it is said that minister Harak Singh Rawat is supporting Umesh Sharma and his channel.
BENGAL CONGRESS-CPI(M), BJP GEAR UP FOR ACTION
The Congress and CPI(M) are busy drawing up their programmes in each district of West Bengal. In the same way BJP has planned to cover all the districts in its Rath Yatras in the next 40 days. Coinciding with the BJP programme, CPI(M) and Congress are launching their Jansampark Abhiyan in every district. They have already declared that their fight is with BJP and its communal agenda. Meanwhile state BJP president Dilip Ghosh says the state’s people have finished off both CPI(M) and Congress and now they are unhappy with the bad administration of Mamata Banerjee and ,therefore, looking up to BJP to provide a good administration and ensure fast progress of West Bengal.
DEFT MOVES HELP MP CONGRESS
Close on the heels of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s brother-in-law joining Congress, the ruling party has released a video clip showing state Congress chief Kamal Nath saying he wants only winning candidates even if they have criminal cases registered against them. This has forced Kamal Nath to clarify that he was talking about persons with political cases against them. The Congress success in roping in Jai Adivasi Yuva Shakti founder Hira Lal Alawa, is seen as a master stroke that could influence the outcome in 60 of the 230 seats across the state. Alawa, a doctor from All India Institute of Medical Science of Delhi (AIIMS), had launched the socio-political outfit in 2012. Three former BJP MLAs Sanjay Sharma, Padma Shukla and Abhay Mishra have also been given tickets. (IPA)
