Priyanka’s Lucknow Road Show Unnerves SP-BSP Alliance

By Pradeep Kapoor

LUCKNOW: Impressive road show
of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Rahul Gandhi and Jyotiraditya Scindia in Lucknow has
unnerved SP-BSP alliance. Massive participation of people from all castes and
religions at the road show has forced to Samajwadi Party and BSP to revise
their strategy to contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Significantly enough, former
Chief Minister and national President of Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav has
said that Congress was already in alliance that is why Amethi and Rae Bareilly
were left for them. Akhilesh went on to say that there were some parties in the
alliance for Lok Sabha polls while some more would be for assembly polls.

It would be worth mentioning
here that Akhilesh Yadav had welcomed the entry of Priyanka Gandhi to politics
and her induction as AICC general secretary. The participation for people from
upper castes and minorities will motivate Mayawati and Akhilesh to reinvent
strategy for 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

There are news that Samajwadi
Party and BSP may change their candidates to win over non-Yadav backwards and
non- Jatav Dalits communities. Since Congress Party will attract upper caste
Hindu as well, BSP will have to target sarv Samaj people while giving tickets.

Although BSP national
President and former Chief Minister Mayawati is continuously attacking Congress
but Rahul- Priyanka avoid any criticism of SP and BSP. Much significance is
being attached to speech of Rahul Gandhi at PCC after the road show where he
said that he had great respect and regards for Akhilesh and BSP but his party
would play on front foot. At the same time Rahul Gandhi said that Priyanka and Jyotiraditya
would work in UP to ensure Congress Government in the state by 2022.

There is no doubt that mega
road show of Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi succeeded in bringing the Congress
workers out of their homes and they were seen cheering leaders with great enthusiasm
which will help the party in a big way. There is a possibility that future
programs of Priyanka and Jyotiraditya may force Akhilesh and Mayawati to come
on negotiation table and accommodate Congress with respect and dignity.

After the road show future
programs and strategy of Priyanka and Rahul will decide as to how BSP-SP
alliance leaders behave for full fledged alliance to counter BJP.(IPA Service)
