By Rahil Nora Chopra

Gandhi Vadra is going to visit Kumbh Mela on 17 February to seek the blessing
of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati and take a holy dip into Sangam on her
trip to Prayagraj and this is the first religious trip after being appointed
the Congress general secretary in-charge of eastern Uttar Pradesh. Jyotiraditya
Scindia, Raj Babbar, Pramod Tiwari, Lalitesh Pati Tripathi will accompany her.
She will also interact with the Congress leaders and party workers of Prayagraj
Meanwhile Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati will leave for Ayodhya from
Prayagraj on 17 February and will reaching Ayodhya on 19 February and on 20
February will visit ”Bada sthan” at Janki Ghat and will offer Prayer to Sava
Lakh Parthiv Shiva linga and also conduct meetings and on 21 February will lay

CONGRESS TO ALLY
WITH SMALL PARTIES IN UTTAR PRADESH

The
Uttar Pradesh leadership of Congress is pursuing an alliance with small parties
and Shivpal’s Yadav Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia). Talks are on with
Shivpal Yadav on alliance and Congress is ready to give 5 seats to Shivpal’s
party in Uttar Pradesh. The deal will be announced very soon. Priyanka Gandhi
Vadra has consulted with the block level to state leadership in this regard and
most of the party workers have advised to tie-up with small parties, Shivpal’s
Yadav Pragatisheel Samajwadi party(Lohia) and Ajit Singh’s party RLD. Congress
has offered RLD 4 to 5 seats  because the
result in three northern states has shown the trends of supporting the Congress
party by the  Upper caste, Muslims,
dalits and the middle class. The Centre leadership wants a Mahagatbandan
throughout the country including Uttar Pradesh to fight against the BJP in 2019
Lok Sabha election.

VARUN GANDHI MAY
JOIN CONGRESS

After
the appointment of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Jyotiraditya Scindia as General
Secretary in-charge of eastern and western Uttar Pradesh, the Congress
leadership has started searching for a young Brahim face for Congress working
president in eastern Uttar Pradesh as there is a widespread feeling in the
party that this is the right time to tap the upper caste. Lalitesh Pati
Tripathi is the front runner for the post and in western Uttar Pradesh, the
Congress is searching for a moderate Muslim face for Congress working
President. The front runner is the Nasimuddin Siddiqui. The buzz is that the
names for Congress working president for Eastern and Western Uttar Pradesh are
not announced yet due to Varun Gandhi who is expected to join Congress.
Meanwhile Congress President Rahul Gandhi has decided to convene a meeting of
the Congress Working Committee on of February 26 at Ahmedabad to discuss the
current political scenario & progress made for the upcoming General
elections.

UTTARKHAND BJP HIT
BY DISSENSION

As
the Lok Sabha election is approaching, the infighting in BJP Uttarakhand has
become strong. The leaders who have joined the BJP in Uttarakhand from other
parties during last election are now trying to go back with their original
party. According to sources, Satpal Maharaj wants a ticket from Pouri and Vijay
Bahuguna wants a Lok Sabha ticket from Tehri. If the BJP refuses to give them a
ticket they may join Congress as they both have represented these seats as
Congress MPs. Vijay Bahuguna and his followers have left the Congress on the
issue of Harish Rawat and in the same way Satpal Maharaj, Harak Singh Rawat and
Subodh Uniyal left the Congress on Harish Rawat issue. Harish Rawat, Trivendra
Singh Rawat and Satpal Maharaj are Thakurs and they are fighting with each
other for the leadership of Thakurs in the state.  (IPA)

An appeal

The legacy of IPA, founded by Nikhil Chakravartty, the doyen of journalism in India, to keep the flag of independent media flying high, is facing the threat of extinction due to the effect of the Covid pandemic. Only an emergency funding can avert such an eventuality. We appeal to all those who believe in the freedom of expression to contribute to this noble cause.
