NDA Partners See Straw In The Wind

By Rahil Nora Chopra

            The results of the assembly
elections have had their fallout on the relationship of NDA partners with BJP.
There is already speculation that Apna Dal leader and Union minister of state
for ministry of health Anupriya Patel will soon announce her party’s decision
to quit NDA. She has reportedly held consultations with her senior party
colleagues on the matter. Meanwhile, LJP president Chirag Paswan has said that
he is watching the political situation, which has definitely affected the
development of Bihar. Similarly, Shiv Sena sources say the party is going to
call a meeting to decide weather Sena will remain in NDA or not.

SHIVPAL’S
SINGLE-POINT AGENDA

            Shivpal Yadav organised his first
Jan akrosh rally on Sunday at Ramabai Ambedkar maidan in Lucknow. It was
attended by Mulayam Singh Yadav, who gave his blessings to Shivpal. He has
floated Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia with the objective of demolishing
Samajwadi party led by nephew Akhilesh Yadav. The party’s office bearers
include a large number of Muslims and Yadavs. All of them were once part of the
Samajwadi Party. Although Shivpal Yadav has said that his party will fight
against BJP, the new party is seen denting the strength of SP-BSP alliance.
During the Dainik Jagran forum discussion BJP president Amit Shah had
acknowledged that the SP-BSP alliance would cause trouble for his party. In
Uttar Pradesh BJP has 45 percent votes and SP-BSP 51 percent. The 6 percent
could make all the difference in the final results.

KUSHWAHA’S
DISPLEASURE WITH MODI

RLSP chief Upendra Kushwaha held a
two-day fast against the education policy of Nitish Kumar. Union parliamentary
affair minister Narendra Singh Tomar had invited him for a meeting ahead of the
parliament session but Kushwaha has since resigned from the ministry and walked
out of the ruling alliance. In his resignation letter to the Prime Minister,
Kushwaha said that he felt dejected and betrayed by Modi’s leadership. The RLSP
chief also slammed the BJP for not upholding its commitments to his party. Before
that Kushwaha was trying to meet Congress president Rahul Gandhi, but denied
any such plans. Meanwhile, Sharad Yadav, who is expected to merge his party
with RLS, met Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Ranchi hospital and discussed about the
alliance with RLSP and seat sharing.

CASE AGAINST BENGAL
BJP LEADERS

Bengal police has filed suo moto
case against state BJP leaders, including state party chief Dilip Ghosh for
organising the BJP rath yatra in the wake of the Kolkata high court order
against the event on the request of the state government citing law and order
issues. According to Ghosh, the public meeting was already scheduled and people
had arrived at the venue. But he went on the stage to announce that the event
stood cancelled and expressed his gratitude for the people who turned out for
the meeting. Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah told the press that Mamata
Banerjee won’t be able to suppress the party’s voice in West Bengal and nobody
can stop the party from forcing a change in the government. (IPA)
