The Congress high command has a
problem convincing the party state units especially Delhi, Haryana and Punjab
regarding tie-up with AAP for 2019 Lok Sabha election. The party high command
feels that if the party does not tie-up with AAP the BJP stands to benefit.
This happened in recently held Jind Assembly by-election last week where AAP
and Digvijay Chautala’s new party has joined hands and their candidates came
second and the Congress candidates came third. But Congress local units are
reluctant for the tie-up thinking that their clout will diminish in seat
sharing. In the same way Delhi Congress state President Sheila Dikshit and her
party leaders do not want any tie-up with AAP but on the other hand, the
Congress high command fears that BJP could win all seven Lok Sabha seats in
Delhi if Congress and AAP fight separately. Meanwhile Punjab Congress State
unit does not want any tie-up with AAP. The Congress position of seat sharing
cannot be based only on the party performance in the last parliamentary election,
but its performance in last three parliamentary election must be taken into
account also, the state leaders feel.
BJP IN BAD STATE IN
RAJASTHAN
After the defeat of BJP in Mayor
election in Jaipur where more than 20 BJP councillors have given votes against
the BJP official candidate, the BJP high command now has changed more than 15
district presidents in the state in one stroke. The high command has taken this
defeat as a challenge for the coming Lok Sabha election. Many present Lok Sabha
MP’s want to change their constituency and some even do not want to fight the
Lok Sabha election. The result of recently by-poll in Ramgarh where Congress
candidate won and demolished the state BJP. In the last Lok Sabha election, BJP
won all 25 Lok Sabha seats and this time it seems difficult to repeat the last
performance in the coming Lok Sabha election
SIX STATES MAY OPT
FOR ASSEMBLY POLL
Whether six states would go for
assembly polls alongside the Lok Sabha, or just three is expected to be decided
soon. Maybe at the coming weekly meeting of Amit Shah and the PM which usually
takes place every Thursday at the 7 Lok Kalyan Marg. Apart from Andhra Pradesh,
Odisha and Sikkim, three BJP ruled states Haryana, Maharashtra and Jharkhand
are not averse to dissolving their assemblies for fresh polls.
RAHUL FOR MORE
INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS
At a meeting with the Delhi
University students at Ping’s Café Orient in Lodhi Colony market, the Congress
President Rahul Gandhi during his interaction with the student’s has assured that his party will publish its
Manifesto in “Braille” for visually impaired peoples. The students of Lady
Sriram College has named this meeting as “APNI BAAT RAHUL KE SAATH”. According
to Congress sources, there will be more such interaction with various groups.
The discussions which went on for two hours, touched caste based
discrimination, making education accessible to all, girls education and
atrocities against Dalits.
UTTARAKHAND BJP
DEPENDING ON OLD LEADERS
BJP has won five Lok Sabha seats in
the last Lok Sabha election in Uttarakhand but this time it seems difficult for
BJP to win all the five seats. Although the party has the government in the
state led by Trivender Singh Rawat, but this time due to old age of Bhuwan
Chandra Khanduri and Bhagat Singh Koshyari, many young candidates want to fight
from their constituency but seeing the conditions, the high command does not
want to apply age limit for the coming Lok Sabha election and wants that they
both should fight. The same situation is arising in Tehri Garhwal seat where
former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna wants to fight. (IPA)
