Amit Shah claims Bengal’s Buddhist, Sikh, Christian refugees to get citizenship

Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah assured Hindu, Sikh, Christian and Buddhist refugees in West Bengal too will be granted citizenship under the proposed Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

Amit Shah, West Bengal

The BJP chief was on a West Bengal trip to address rallies at different places.

He accused the state government saying Trinamool Congress is misleading people on the National Register of Citizens as they are fond of infiltrators and falsely alleging that the Bengalis will be driven out of West Bengal.

Amit Shah added, “I want to assure all refugees living in Bengal – Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh – that they need not be afraid.”

Asking West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to make her stand clear on the Citizenship Bill the BJP boss said whether the refugee is a Christain, Sikh or Buddhist, no one will be left out.

He said, “Those who have been oppressed and have come from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh will be granted citizenship by the Narendra Modi government.”

He alleged West Bengal chief minister will oppose the Citizenship bill because the main concern for her is the vote bank.

Amit Shah further added that the TMC government in West Bengal has not done anything for the refugees, but the Narendra Modi government assures to grant citizenship to all Buddhist and Hindu refugees.

Trinamool Congress meanwhile has threatened to file defamation case against the BJP chief on his remark that syndicate tax are collected in Bengal.

Addressing to a rally Amit Shah said if lotus blooms in West Bengal, people don’t have to pay syndicate tax to TMC leaders.
