Akhilesh Facing Multiple Challenges For His Alliance

By Pradeep Kapoor

LUCKNOW:
Samajwadi Party national President and former chief minister Akhilesh Yadav is
facing multi-corner challenges eversince he entered into alliance with BSP. The
biggest problem is his own father Mulayam Singh Yadav who is founder of the
party and is unhappy with the manner his son entered into alliance with BSP.

Every
now and then Mulayam Singh Yadav reaches his party office and make it a point
to party leaders and workers and address them. Senior Yadav utilises this
opportunity to criticise his own son and question the necessity of alliance
with BSP led by Mayawati.

Mulayam
Singh Yadav says that his party is now restricted to only 37 Seats out of 80
and asks to what his party leaders and workers would do in those 38 seats left
for BSP. The founder of Samajwadi Party points out that BJP is much ahead in
the preparations and tickets while Samajwadi Party is far behind the rival
party.

Mulayam
Singh Yadav not only embarrassed his own son and his party when he praised
Narendra Modi and wished him success in re-election as PM again. The manner in
which Mulayam Singh praised Narendra Modi has confused muslim voters committed
to SP.

Akhilesh
Yadav however said that he entered into alliance with BSP to stop BJP from
capturing the power. He also said that he would ensure victory of Mulayam Singh
Yadav with record margin from Mainpuri.

Samajwadi
Party President is also facing challenge from his uncle Shivpal Yadav who had
formed his own party Pragatisheel Samajwadi Morcha. Shivpal Singh Yadav used to
look after Samajwadi Party on behalf of his elder brother Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Shivpal is making dent in support base of his nephew especially in powerful
Yadav community and Muslims.

Shivpal
is reaching out to influential Yadav’s and Muslims leaders. He is promising
tickets to powerful leaders to damage SP and BSP alliance. There is no doubt if
Shivpal Yadav is able to cut into support base of Samajwadi Party, then BJP
would be benefitted especially in central UP which is considered to be
stronghold of Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The
emergence of Priyanka factor especially in eastern UP will also damage Akhilesh
Yadav and his party. The resurgent Congress Party under the leadership of Rahul
Gandhi and his sister Priyanka will damage Samajwadi Party in those seats
allotted to party.

Akhilesh
Yadav is also facing challenges in those 38 seats left for BSP. Powerful
leaders and workers in these constituencies are in touch with Congress BJP and
Shivpal Yadav for tickets. A large number of Samajwadi Party leaders will quit
the party and join other parties once dates for elections are announced.

The
forthcoming Lok Sabha elections are very crucial for Akhilesh Yadav who has
staked his entire political career and playing second fiddle to BSP which is
evident from seat sharing formula in UP and other states. (IPA Service)
